FGEP carried out a joint research with civil society organizations from Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and Peru on ARVs prices and IP rights protection.The goal of this ‘Exploratory study on the negative impact of intellectual property barriers on access to medicines‘ was to analyze ARVs treatment prices in five Latin-American countries and its relation with IP rights protection.
FGEP also carried out a research about national legislations and the implementation of patentability requirements in the process of patent examination. This research was focused on collecting evidence on positive and negative case-examples of patent examination procedures in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. The most relevant findings of the research were on how to promote patentability requirements favorable to public health in Latin-America.
